Restricted Area Trek
Some places of Nepal are restricted for foreigners unless you have special permission or travelled with responsible officer. In such areas, there are lots of police check posts where you might be returned if you are found roaming or trekking alone. Though, no places of Nepal are officially restricted, but this term existed and refers to the place where you need to be accompanied by government registered trekking company. However, the environmental groups particularly Nepal Nature conservation society is pressing the government to keep some places closed for cultural and adventurous trek due to possibility of environmental and cultural degradation, In 1970s Jomsom trek was closed due to the military aid operation by the support of Khampas in Tibet. But, since 1991 these areas are opened except to trek alone.
The popular areas like: lower Dolpa Distrit area. Area of upper Dolpa district, Kanchanjunga Region, Taplejung district, Upper Mustang, Manaslu area etc.
